If you are looking for great food, comfortable accomodation and fantastic horses and trails then our riding holidays are for you.
Accomodation:
Our purpose built totally unique woodland lodge provides a cosy place to rest your head after a long day in the saddle. Overlooking the stables, and with beautiful views all around, our lodge is the perfect place to escape the modern world. A versitile space the lodge can be set for a single, twin or couple, a woodburner keeps you warm all year and the velux windows provide a clear view of the stars as you lay in bed. There is no electricity, running water or wifi in the lodge - it really is a place to get away from it all!
The nearby "ablutions" block provides a private wet room and utility space where guests can make a cup of tea and get a hot shower. There are also plenty of plug sockets for charging your phone!
Food:
All of our riding breaks are fully catered - food is something we are extremely passionate about and a real highlight of every holiday. Before retraining as a saddler and harness maker Tim enjoyed a successful career working as a chef in a number of London's Michelin starred restaurants spending several years working for Marco Pierre White before moving to Cheltenham to take up a position there as head chef in Raymond Blanc's brasserie "Le Petit Blanc". Here at SaddleTramps seasonality and quality ingredients are at the centre of the menu. Tim prepares all meals from scratch and is able to cater for people with dietary requirements (you will be asked for your preferences and any allergies etc. on booking).
The Horses:
All our horses are owned and trained by ourselves, they have a home for life here with us. We choose them as youngsters for their kind temperaments and aptitude for the job. They all have good conformation and quality movement allowing them to be sound and sure footed over the most challenging of terrain. Most of our crew came to us as 2yr olds and have know the consistency of training (and love) over the course of their lives making them bold, forward going, confident friends that will make your holiday extra special. They are all fully shod and have their own custom made quality English leather saddles and bridles (courtesy of on-site saddler and harness maker Tim) so you know that they are as comfortable as you are out on the trails.
We encourage all our guests to get involved with the daily care of the horses - a great opportunity to spend some extra time with your mount and create an even stronger bond.
The Trails:
Located on the Pencarreg Mountain we are ideally located to enjoy many miles of off-road riding and the thousands of acres of trails in Brechfa forest. The terrain is varied and interesting with breathtaking views and plenty of opportunities in equal measure for leisurely walks or exhilarating canters, there are quarries and streams, woods and mountains.
