SADDLE TRAMPS TRAIL RIDING

Enjoy a quality horse-riding experience at Saddle Tramps; whether you are a seasoned rider or a total beginner you will love our beautiful horses and breathtaking scenery. The stables are located on the picturesque Pencarreg Mountain with stunning views in all directions and benefitting from some of the best out-riding the UK has to offer. Ideally situated on the borders of Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire the possible routes are endless with terrain varying from open moorland, to green valleys and ancient woodland.

FOREST TRAIL - approximately 1hr in the saddle riding a forest trail of approximately 3.5 miles. Suitable for all levels of rider including children from 8yrs old.

Beginner route available -no experience required - you will be given basic instruction as you go and accompanied at all times by our guides.

Advanced riders can take the "gallopy route" and enjoy long charges up the hills.

The forest trail is entirely off-road and boasts stunning views across Lampeter and the Teifi Valley. A popular option for visitors to the area wishing to enjoy the view from a different perspective!

2HR TRAILS - These longer rides take us across the mountain on a green lane then down onto a quiet lane for about 10 mins before reaching the forest with a variety of routes within. The terrrain is more challenging than the 1hr route and involves some narrow sections as well as some steeper sections - it is not suitable for beginner riders or lead reins - you need to have at least some experience of cantering in order to try this trail. Stunning views all the way. Ideal for those looking for a longer experience. Plenty of opportunities for a canter! If you have not ridden with us before you will need to complete the 1hr forest trail as an assessment ride prior to booking onto the 2hr

INTRODUCTION TO CARRIAGE DRIVING EXPERIENCE -

Spend the morning at the stables experiencing the basics of carriage driving - plenty of opportunity to get hands on with the harness and vehicles and our wonderful driving pony Millie!

HAPPY HACKING CLINICS -

Over 6 sessions we will cover essential happy hacking skills:
-opening and closing gates while mounted
-mounting and dismounting safely while out and about
-hacking the young or nervous horse
-how to cope confidently with spooks
-control of paces over a variety of terrain
-riding in a group - learn how to control your horse so you can go first or last or in the middle!
-riding alone
-coping with the excitable horse
-motivating the steadier horse
-learn how to balance your horse and yourself over a variety of terrain
-schooling while hacking - working lateral movements and transitions into your trail ride!

Our horses are brilliant but they weren't born that way. Learn our techniques and learn how we train the horses to be the happy hackers they are!

BACON BANJO TRAIL RIDE - Join us for a fast 1hr forest ride followed by a bacon roll and mug of tea in the tack room - plenty of chat and laughs - confident adults only keen on a fast blast £47.50pp Early 2026 DATES: 10/1, 7/2, 7/3, 18/4, 16/5, 13/6

SADDLE CLUB - A day of riding and stable management for young riders aged 8-16yrs, held one Sunday a month throughout the year - suitable for young riders that are confidently cantering - covering all aspects of horse care and riding to help our young riders become kind, effective horse people of the future - own ponies may attend by prior arrangement - 10am-4pm £50pp Early 2026 Dates: 11/1, 8/2, 8/3, 19/4, 17/5, 14/6

PONY FUN DAYS - A day of pony themed fun for unaccompanied kids aged 8-11yrs, no experience required this is a chance for kids to have a try at horse riding in a fun environment - grooming, games, a pony ride and a carriage drive. 1030am-4pm £50pp Early 2026 Dates: 17/2, 31/3

BACKING/ BREAKING/ STARTING CLINICS -

Stage 1: introducing tack and groundwork long reining, lunging etc.

Stage 2: introducing the rider and life under saddle

We will be offering clinic opportunities for anyone interested in learning long reining and lunging -sessions to be approx 3 hrs at a cost of £65pp - weekdays and some weekend sessions available - small groups with plenty of opportunity to get hands on first with more experienced cobs and then progressing on to the young cobs once the handler's skills are sufficiently established

Stage 2 will still involve some groundwork in each session progressing to the introduction of the rider - sessions to be approx 3 hrs at a cost of £65pp - weekdays and some weekend sessions available - small groups with plenty of opportunity to get hands on

To get the full overview of Stage 1 in the breaking process would require 4 sessions with the same for Stage 2.

PONY PARTY - 3hrs of pony fun - get the ponies in the party mood by giving them a makeover before you ride! (this also gives children new to the stables a chance to become familiar with the ponies before riding) followed by a ride to the forestry (everyone takes turns riding and leading), then mounted games in the forest - great fun and suitable for all abilities! Also included is a picnic of party food and a "saddletramps" rosette for each guest - £250 for birthday child and 5 guests, additional children can be added up to a maximum of 8 guests at an additional cost of £35 per child.

SUMMER CAMP - Residential riding holidays for unaccompanied children- this all inclusive holiday is an action packed adventure suitable for all levels of rider aged 8-17yrs - click on the page for more info - from £495 per camper for a 4 day 3 night holiday.

HALF DAY RIDE - This 4 hour trail takes us deep into the enchanting and ancient Brechfa forest, with miles of trails to enjoy there are plenty of opportunities for a canter and stunning views to enjoy.
